A full-time research position for a phycologist/phytoplankton ecologist is now open at the Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research (IOLR).
Scientific field: Phytoplankton ecology and taxonomy.
Job Description: A highly motivated independent researcher in the field of phytoplankton ecology and taxonomy, with emphasis on cyanobacteria. The successful candidate is expected to conduct his/her investigations in the field and the laboratory, using both classical and molecular tools.
The successful candidate is expected to assume responsibility for components of the Lake Kinneret monitoring program such as the monitoring of phytoplankton species composition and abundance, chlorophyll and primary production, cooperate with ongoing research projects at the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, IOLR, and to actively seek research grants from national and international funding agencies to help support his/her research.
Requirements: The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in natural sciences with a strong background and research experience in phytoplankton ecology and taxonomy, application of molecular tools and a strong publication record.
Advantages: post-doc, experience in planning and conducting independent research, management of R&D at national and international level, experience in microalgae culturing and barcoding.
The candidate must currently be eligible to work in Israel.
The successful candidate will be positioned at the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, IOLR.
