Freshwater biology/ecology research position


A full-time research position for a freshwater biologist/ecologist is now open at the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research (IOLR).

Scientific field: Freshwater biologist/ecologist

Job Description: We seek a highly motivated independent researcher in the fields of freshwater biology or freshwater ecology. The successful candidate is expected to conduct his/her investigations in the field and the laboratory, using modern techniques and approaches.
The successful candidate is expected to assume responsibility for components of the Lake Kinneret monitoring program and develop new focuses for the monitoring program, cooperate with ongoing research projects at the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, IOLR, to actively seek research grants from national and international funding agencies to help support his/her research and publish in high impact peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements: The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in natural sciences with research experience in the relevant field and a strong publication record.

Advantages: post-doc, experience in planning and conducting independent research, proposal writing, management of research at a national and international level.

The candidate must currently be eligible to work in Israel.

The successful candidate will be positioned at the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, IOLR.

Phytoplankton research position


A full-time research position for a phycologist/phytoplankton ecologist is now open at the Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research (IOLR).

 

Scientific field: Phytoplankton ecology and taxonomy.

 

Job Description: A highly motivated independent researcher in the field of phytoplankton ecology and taxonomy, with emphasis on cyanobacteria. The successful candidate is expected to conduct his/her investigations in the field and the laboratory, using both classical and molecular tools.

The successful candidate is expected to assume responsibility for components of the Lake Kinneret monitoring program such as the monitoring of phytoplankton species composition and abundance, chlorophyll and primary production, cooperate with ongoing research projects at the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, IOLR, and to actively seek research grants from national and international funding agencies to help support his/her research.

 

Requirements: The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in natural sciences with a strong background and research experience in phytoplankton ecology and taxonomy, application of molecular tools and a strong publication record.

 

Advantages: post-doc, experience in planning and conducting independent research, management of R&D at national and international level, experience in microalgae culturing and barcoding.

 

The candidate must currently be eligible to work in Israel.

 

The successful candidate will be positioned at the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, IOLR.

Physical limnology/hydrology research position


A full-time research position for a physical limnologist/hydrologist is now open at the Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research (IOLR).

 

Scientific field: Physical Limnology/Hydrology.

 

Job Description: A highly motivated independent researcher in the field of physical limnology and/or hydrology.

The successful candidate is expected to assume responsibility for the physical limnology component of the Lake Kinneret monitoring program and study physical and hydrological processes in the lake and watershed. The candidate is further expected to develop independent research in this field. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will cooperate with ongoing research projects at the Kinneret Limnological Laboratory, IOLR and actively seek research grants from national and international funding agencies in order to help support his/her research.

Requirements: The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in natural or exact sciences with strong modeling, analytical capabilities, and experience in field work; An in-depth understanding of physical processes in aquatic environments and/or the hydrology of surface or sub-surface flow; a strong publication record.

Advantages: Post-doc, experience in planning and conducting independent research, management of R&D at national and international level.

The candidate must currently be eligible for work in Israel.
