Research interests:
Ecology of aquatic microbial communities, with emphasis on phytoplankton ecology. Ecosystems studied include freshwater lakes and wetlands (especially Lake Kinneret), and marine (the Eastern Mediterranean). Recent focus on analysis of long-term datasets aimed at detecting environmental stress, on the ecology of key species in Lake Kinneret, in particular Peridinium gatunense and Aulacoseira granulata, and on ecosystem modeling.
