Marine Biology and Biotechnology
The biology department includes 9 senior researchers and over in the fields of community ecology, biological oceanography, microbiology, ichthyology, phycology, mariculture, foraminifera taxonomy, climate change, marine immunology, and marine restoration. Biological components monitored by the scientists of the Marine Biology department include microbial communities, bacterial and primary productivity, neritic and pelagic zooplankton, intertidal and subtidal rocky reef communities, shelf and deep-sea soft-bottom epifauna and infauna, coastal and deep-sea fish.
